So i step off the plane in london after a surprisingly uneventful exit from Israel i finally decided to just be myself at the airport and had the security people laughing at my stupidity - not to mention my shmor merchak tatt. With the help of yonatan and assaf of course. i guess they realised that 3 silly punks (well, two punks and one mizrashit metalhead) can't be too much of a security problem. anyway, we all laughed, took some funny photos, broke the photo machine (well done assaf) and then it was bye bye israel.
when i got to london i was expecting to be picked up by the driver, but who should be waiting as i leave customs???? yep, marky ramone. ok so he wasnt waiting for me. and he was sitting at starbucks (yuck). and i was too nervous to go and speak to him (even though we've worked with some of the same people). but yeah, it was pretty cool to see him.
then my driver arrived and, i didnt think it possible the way i was feeling, but he really lifted my spirits. we got to speaking about music and he said he did some singing himself (he was in his late 50's) and did i want to hear him? of course i did. so he started singing me some classic love song hits from italy that he had translated himself. i should have known what was in store when he told me his favourite singer ever was celine dion, but hey, its a long drive from the airport. anyway i didnt know whether to laugh or cry. they were such sad love songs about losing the one you love and your heart being left with her (ironic, huh?) but he was so inspired while he sung that even though his voice was quite strange i really had to smile. yes my friends, music - no matter how lame or badly delivered - really is the greatest medicine. so to the driver i say thanks. you really made my day!
Currently Listening To: well, the songs of a certain italian guy i just met!!!
